In 2011 China led the global annual wind power market again, by adding 17.631 MW of a new wind capacity and cementing its place as the world\u2019s leading wind market with a total of 62.364 MW.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese turbine manufacturers continue to grow, with Sinovel, Goldwind, United Power and Ming Yang. Chinese manufacturers are gaining ground in other countries, exporting 220 MW in 2011. The largest exporter was Goldwind, with 189 MW.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-167\" src=\"http:\/\/zoldenergiablog.hu\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/07\/shutterstock_135817244-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"shutterstock_135817244\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/zoldenergiablog.hu\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/07\/shutterstock_135817244-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/zoldenergiablog.hu\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/07\/shutterstock_135817244-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/zoldenergiablog.hu\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/07\/shutterstock_135817244.jpg 336w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A time of change<\/p>\n<p>Early in 2011, the National Energy Administrtaion (NEA) drafted the 12<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> five-year plan for renewable energy. This includes a target of 100 GW of onshore wind by 2015. Despite the positive numbers from the Chinese market, there have been some problems. Following the 2011\u2019s grid problems, two new important policies were introduced which brought about significant changes in China\u2019s wind sector.<\/p>\n<p>China installed another 107,9 MW of offshore wind in 2011. Bringing its total offshore installations to 258,4 MW. China is now third in the world after the United Kingdom and Denmark. China has ambitious target for offshore development of 5 GW by 2015, and 30 GW by 2020. To reach this goal, China\u2019s offshore development will follow the concession tender model, in which both developers and tariffs are determined by a tender. The second round off offshore concession tendering of 2.000 MW was supposed to take place in 2011, but has been postponed until 2012.<\/p>\n<p>According to data of the Chinese Wind Energy Association the grid curtailment is very high in China. For example, in 2011 in Gansu Province, the curtailment rate was approximately 25%, while the curtailment rate of the ten most windy provinces is about 16%.<\/p>\n<p>While the numbers of 2011were positive, there are some possible pitfalls in the future of the Chinese market.
